Waismann Method Administrative Director Announces Price Reduction on Treatment in Honor of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Administrative director for the Waismann Method of rapid opiate detoxification, Clare Kavin, today announced a temporary price reduction on the pioneering treatment in honor of the third annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day – a national effort by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to collect and dispose of unwanted or unused prescription medications. From October 24 – November 7 the cost of the Waismann Method treatment will be lowered by 10 percent, in an effort to encourage those struggling with prescription painkiller dependency to seek treatment and achieve full recovery.

According to the 2009 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than seven million Americans abuse prescription drugs.  A separate study from the Yale School of Medicine (published in the Archives of Internal Medicine), reported that four out of five people who misuse opioids get the drugs from people other than their doctors, including friends and family members.  

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has been an extremely successful initiative in helping to combat the rising prescription drug abuse epidemic.  According to the DEA, during an April 30, 2011 event, more than 376,593 pounds of unwanted or expired medication was turned in for safe and proper disposal, which was 55 percent more than the 242,000 pounds brought in during the event in September 2010.

Individuals based in Los Angeles may drop off their unused prescription drugs at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department collection site, at 780 N. San Vicente Blvd. West Hollywood, CA 90069.
