WASHINGTON, Sept. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- This fall, thousands of people across the country will unite for the Lupus Foundation of America's 2025 Walk to End Lupus Now® events, kicking off in September. As the nation's largest lupus awareness and fundraising program, the walks raise critical funds for lupus research, education, and support while building powerful connections within the lupus community.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide – approximately 1.5 million in the U.S. – causing inflammation and pain throughout the body. Symptoms can range from severe fatigue and brain fog to life-threatening complications and organ damage. While lupus can affect anyone, nine out of ten people with lupus are women, and it disproportionately impacts Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and Asian/Pacific Islander populations.
The Walk to End Lupus Now program is taking place in 36 cities nationwide, offering inspiring guest speakers, live entertainment, educational booths, resources, and opportunities to connect with individuals, businesses and organizations committed to helping bring an end to lupus.
"The Walk to End Lupus Now is more than an event—it's a movement," said Louise Vetter, President and CEO of the Lupus Foundation of America. "Each walk is filled with energy, determination, and a shared commitment to creating a better future for everyone impacted by lupus. When our community comes together in cities across the country, we send a powerful message that lupus will not limit us."
Anyone can join the event and invite friends and family to form teams, engage their social networks, and raise awareness about lupus while supporting critical research and support programs.
"The work of the Lupus Foundation of America has never been more important," said Joe Arnold, Chair of the Lupus Foundation of America's Board of Directors. "Federal funding challenges threaten lupus research and limit access to care, so every step taken at the Walk to End Lupus Now carries even greater weight. By standing with us, you help ensure that our life-saving programs, advocacy and research efforts continue to deliver hope and support to every person and family impacted by lupus."
