SAN PEDRO, Calif., April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Walker Advertising with Los Defensores invites Latino students who are currently enrolled in an accredited California law school to apply for their bi-annual scholarship. Three applicants will be selected to receive $5,000 each to help pay for their tuition and other law school expenses.

Students who are currently enrolled in an accredited California law school are encouraged to apply to receive $5,000 to help pay for tuition and other law school expenses. While the Latino population in California continues to grow (currently 37%), only 4% of California's lawyers are Latinos. The three scholarship awards are being offered with goals of increasing the percentage of dedicated Latino attorneys, and to empower and encourage Latinos who intend to serve their community as a lawyer.

To apply, students are required to submit the following documents:

A complete application form
A current résumé
Official transcripts for undergraduate and law schools
A personal statement up to 1,000 words that includes information related to personal background, service to the Latino community, and financial need
A letter of recommendation from someone in the legal community

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in law school or undergrad if they are in the first year of law school. Submissions must be postmarked by May 31, 2017 for this scholarship cycle.
