BOSTON, March 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Ballot announced today the signing of a contract with Wasco County, Oregon to implement the ClearVote voting system. The addition of Wasco County increases the number of registered voters using ClearVote technology to 60 percent. Wasco County will begin implementing the new technology immediately for use in their next election in May.
Wasco County chose to switch to the ClearVote voting system to increase the efficiency of their election administration process. The ClearVote system streamlines the workflow for scanner operators and opening boards and ensures that each ballot is touched less frequently, reducing the amount of ballot-tracking procedures and the potential for human error. In addition, the digital adjudication process saves time, which in turn reduces operating expenses.
County Clerk Lisa Gambee said she was looking forward to using the new technology, adding "a year ago, Wasco County developed and launched our new vision statement, Pioneering Pathways to Prosperity. Choosing an innovative, software-based solution that benefits Wasco County citizens is a prime example of this vision statement in action."
Clear Ballot uses commercially available hardware paired with modern software to deliver a more affordable and scalable solution. Since the initial ClearVote certification in Oregon, Clear Ballot has implemented and certified several enhancements based on technology upgrades and feedback from customers, providing continuous innovation to Oregon counties.
"We're very happy to have Wasco County on board," said Clear Ballot CEO Larry Moore. "As our partnerships with Oregon counties continue to grow, we gain valuable feedback that allows us to improve our products statewide, providing a level of transparency and confidence never before available in elections."
