Web Industries Expands Composite Formatting Capabilities In Southeast

MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Web Industries, Inc. and CAD Cut, Inc. (a Web Industries company), industry leaders in formatting prepreg composites for aerostructure fabrication, are pleased to announce the expansion of Web's Atlanta facility to include table-based automated prepreg cutting and ply kitting services. The addition of this new material formatting capability will allow Web Atlanta to support all varieties of composites fabrication used by the region's aerospace, defense, and aviation industries from one centrally-located, AS9100C certified location.

The birthplace of aerospace-grade prepreg composite slit tape, the Web Atlanta facility was purpose-built in 2005 to be the company's Composites Center of Excellence and houses both Web's main domestic composites formatting operations and the Composites Automation Development Center, an industry-unique material evaluation and processability testing facility. Adding automated ply cutting and ply kitting capacity to the Atlanta location will allow Web Industries to further leverage its existing composites formatting, quality assurance, freezer storage, and material handling infrastructure and will give the region's manufacturers a trusted "single-source" supplier for formatted prepreg composites.

Web Industries acquired CAD Cut in 2013, and combined the two companies offer the world's most comprehensive set of prepreg composite slitting, spooling, ply cutting, ply kitting, and material management solutions to the aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial sectors. Web Industries' PrecisionSlit™ technologies practically defined the industry standards for aerospace prepreg slit tape and helped make the latest generation of composite aircraft possible, while CAD Cut's outsource automated ply cutting, ply kitting, and material management solutions are proven to streamline supply chains, simplify cost modeling, and reduce overhead costs when compared against establishing in-house ply cutting and kitting operations.
