RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- WebAssign, a leading provider of online instructional tools for faculty and students, welcomes new members to the WebAssign Faculty Advisory Board for academic year 2015-16.
The advisory board, founded in 2014, helps WebAssign remain focused on the company mission of supporting and improving education instruction and student learning. The 15-member board includes WebAssign adopters across math and science disciplines, ensuring the needs of all STEM educators are represented. Joining the board this academic year are:
- Michael Lafreniere, Ohio University – Chillicothe
- Jeff Zeager, Lorain County Community College
- Norb Pienta, University of Georgia
WebAssign thanks outgoing members Aaron Titus of Highpoint University, Joi Walker of Tallahassee Community College, and Lisa Townsley of the University of Georgia for their service to the board.
In the first year of service the WebAssign Faculty Advisory Board examined issues that are top priority for instructors such as:
- Ways to increase student engagement
- The lack of student motivation
- Student preparation for college level courses
- The need to improve rates of degree completion
Moving forward the board will continue to look at how these issues impact science and math courses. "The faculty advisory board was instrumental in directing key elements of our newest analytics tools, Class Insights and My Class Insights," said Andy Trus, WebAssign product manager. "We look forward to their ongoing feedback and recommendations on how WebAssign can continue to provide instructors with innovative solutions that help to solve many of these challenges."
