SAN FRANCISCO, March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- BabyCenter®, the #1 pregnancy and parenting digital resource, today announced the winners of its fourth annual Moms' Picks Awards, given to the best gear and products as decided by parents.
Based on the combined results of a BabyCenter survey and open online voting that generated 42,500 votes, 25 key baby and toddler products were rated best in their category.
"New parents today have more choices and access to more information," said Linda Murray, senior vice president and global editor in chief of BabyCenter. "But the most powerful information is still other parents' direct experience. Our research shows that 71 percent of moms say other parents' recommendations sway their purchasing decisions. That's the unique power of Moms' Picks: The products have been through the real-world testing that only other parents can provide."
This year, Moms' Picks added five new categories to its awards, including baby food makers and bassinets. The expanded field reflects the changing needs and priorities of millennial parents, Murray said.
"The winners in Moms' Picks show that some qualities are non-negotiable for parents. Safety will always be first for categories like car seats, strollers, and baby carriers, for example," Murray said. "But there are changing needs too. Our research shows more than half of new mothers plan to make baby food from scratch, so they're shopping for food processors. And the recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics that babies sleep in the same room as their parents for at least the first six months made us realize what a service it would be to include bassinets and co-sleepers."
Winners and finalists may display the BabyCenter Moms' Picks seal in their marketing and on social media and packaging. Parents shopping for the gear they need to make their lives easier can look for the seal and know that those products have already been through the toughest test of all: real life.
