Work Truck Show Educational Sessions Provide Fleet Management Essentials

The Work Truck Show 2015, North America's largest work truck event, is held March 4–6 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, IN. Educational programming, including the Green Truck Summit, begins March 3.

The new "Fleet Management 101: Fundamentals of Truck Fleet Management" workshop provides a thorough introduction to the most important elements of an effective fleet management program. It highlights outsourcing and supplier management, analytics, benchmarking, vehicle cost and replacement, and safety. This session is led by senior representatives from Mercury Associates, Inc. (Gaithersburg, MD), the largest dedicated fleet management consulting firm in North America. It is held Tuesday, March 3, 9:00am–4:00pm.
Individual sessions held on Wednesday, March 4, and Thursday, March 5, provide in-depth looks at decision-making processes fleet operators follow to implement changes. These include "Lease or Capital Purchase – Identifying the Best Option for Fleets," "Strategies and Techniques for Rightsizing Your Fleet," "Utilizing Life-Cycle Cost Analysis as a Selling or Purchasing Strategy," and "Fleet Performance Measurement and Benchmarking."
For government fleet operators who must balance the need to provide the best possible service with the financial realities of their agencies and taxpayers, the Indiana Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) will host a two-part training course on truck specification development and life-cycle cost analysis. The "Indiana LTAP Fleet Educational Program" Special Session provides strategies for developing truck chassis specifications, evaluating bids, and determining real ROI to ensure a positive outcome for any equipment purchase. The Special Session takes place Thursday, March 5, 8:30am–10:30am.
Extensive education on clean vehicle topics is offered at the Green Truck Summit, the only alternative fuel and technology conference held in conjunction with the largest dedicated vocational truck event in North America. The two-day Green Truck Summit features general and breakout sessions that cover alternative fuel and advanced technology trends and implementation success stories.
Work Truck Show learning opportunities also include Chassis Update sessions, in which the world's leading work truck chassis manufacturers present product line developments and new technical information. In 2015, 15 OEMs are scheduled to present Chassis Update sessions: Chevrolet & GMC Commercial Truck; Ford Commercial Vehicles; Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation; Freightliner Trucks; Hino Trucks; International Truck; Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, Inc.; Kenworth Truck Company; Mack Trucks, Inc.; Mercedes-Benz Vans; Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America, Inc.; Nissan Commercial Vehicles; Peterbilt Motors Company; Ram Commercial; and Western Star Trucks.
