World-Famous Bolshoi Ballet Leaps Onto U.S. Cinema Screens With Brand New Season, Tickets on Sale Now

DENVER, Sept. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The celebrated Bolshoi Ballet dances across big screens nationwide with an outstanding lineup for the fifth consecutive season, as part of the "2018-19 Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema Series." Captured live from Moscow's legendary Bolshoi Theatre, audiences will be captivated by seven stunning performances on select Sundays from November 2018 to May 2019, all in their local cinemas.

The fifth season of the Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema Series opens with the oldest surviving ballet in history - August Bournonville's romantic masterpiece "La Sylphide" on November 11, followed by Alexei Fadeyechev 's critically-acclaimed staging of "Don Quixote" on December 2. From the full splendor of classic fairytale ballets such as a brand new "The Nutcracker" on December 23, an iconic "La Bayadere" on January 20 and "The Sleeping Beauty" on March 10 to the fiery free-spirited characters in ballets such as "The Golden Age" on April 7 and "Carmen Suite" doubled teamed with "Petrushka" on May 19, there is no other company quite like the Bolshoi Ballet to perform these exquisite story ballets.

Staged for the Bolshoi by Bournonville expert Johan Kobborg, this production is the ultimate romantic masterpiece.

DON QUIXOTE – Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 12:55 p.m. local time
Inspired by heroic stories of brave knights, with his faithful servant Sancho Panza at his side, Don Quixote sets out on an adventure to meet his ideal woman, Dulcinea. With panache and sparkling technique, principal dancers Ekaterina Krysanova and Semyon Chudin lead the spectacular cast of toreadors, flamenco dancers, gypsies and dryads in the Bolshoi's critically‐acclaimed staging of this exalted performance.

On Christmas Eve, Marie's Nutcracker doll magically transforms into a prince and together their wonderful adventure begins. The temple dancer Nikiya and the warrior Solor fall deeply in love, igniting heated passions and murderous intrigues when the Rajah and his daughter Gamzatti discover their forbidden love. He follows her to the cabaret and realizes that she is the beautiful dancer "Mademoiselle Margot," but also the love interest of the local gangster Yashka. With its jazzy score by Dmitri Shostakovich and its music‐hall atmosphere featuring beautiful tangos, "The Golden Age" is a refreshing and colorful dive into the roaring '20s.
