LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- What does it mean to be suitable? For poet and activist Bleu Inkk, it's more than a phrase -- it's a reclamation of self. After nearly three decades behind bars, she now takes the stage to share her powerful story of trauma, resilience, and transformation in the world premiere of Found Suitable, directed and produced by Anne Kenny.
"Outside sources told me and showed me that I was unworthy," says Bleu. "I believed them until I realized that only I have the power to be found suitable in me and for me."
Raised in Compton, CA, Bleu (formerly April Atkins) turned to writing to survive. Behind prison walls, she became Bleu Inkk, creating poetry, plays, and rap to give voice to her journey and those of others. She founded the "Poetry Café" to help incarcerated individuals express themselves and discover their worth. Since her release in 2017, she's become a transformational coach, motivational speaker, and correctional consultant returning to prisons leading workshops and working with organizations like Homeboy Industries to inspire real, lasting change. She is a graduate of Loyola Law School as an independent Forensic Gang Expert.
Director Anne Kenny calls Bleu, "an astonishing storyteller who digs deep into a raw and emotional journey from carefree childhood afternoons playing outside church to criminal associations to a profound transformation that continues to influence others."
