World's largest metal and electronics recycling company scoops top award

PRINCETON, N.J., July 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's largest metal and electronics recycling company, Sims Metal Management, has been honored for their excellent employee engagement practices.

ORC International, a leading global research firm with offices across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific, awarded the company its top prize for the North America region last week as part of its annual Employee Engagement Awards.

Following a merger between Sims Group Limited and Metal Management Inc. in 2008, the company was keen to understand how engaged its employees were, so decided to embark on its first ever employee engagement survey last year.

The organization received a fantastic response rate of 91%, which greatly exceeds industry and global norms. The results of the survey were also very positive with overall employee engagement at 77%, considerably above other global manufacturers according to ORC International's benchmarking database.

Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Thomas M. Sansone said, "A great deal of the company's success in this area can be attributed to the commitment of our Group Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Dienst, and his support in the value of engaging our employees in this manner."
