Worth Magazine Announces Fifth Annual Worth Power 100: The 100 Most Influential People In Finance, Featured In October/November Issue And On Worth.com

NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fifth consecutive year, Worth, the definitive personal finance and lifestyle magazine for high net worth readers, has published its annual list of the 100 most powerful people in finance in its October/November 2014 issue, Worth Editor-in-Chief Richard Bradley announced today.

"The most powerful person in finance should be a leader, an innovator, a visionary and a disruptor," said Bradley. "We found that, in the world of finance, the person who best fit those descriptions wasn't a banker or hedge fund manager, but a prosecutor—United States attorney for the Southern District of New York Preet Bharara." 

Over the past five years, Worth has tracked the ups and downs of every member from previous rosters. Some past honorees have continued to gain influence, such as Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen (#2, up from #21 in 2013 and #37 in 2012), while others have slipped in ranking, such as 2013's No. 1-ranked SEC Chair Mary Jo White (#15) and JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon (#25, ranked #13 in 2013). Others, including Bill Gates and controversial economist Larry Summers, dropped off the list this year entirely. 

Among those making their first appearance on the Power 100 are New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio (#20), Senator Rand Paul (#39), American International Group President and CEO Peter Hancock (#42), Chicago-based HighTower Advisors Founder and CEO Elliot Weissbluth (#91) and Timothy Draper (#98), founding partner of Silicon Valley investment firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

In order to compile the Power 100, Worth's editorial team goes through a rigorous selection process, which includes close monitoring of the comings and goings of both past honorees and newcomers to the scene, as well as talking to industry influencers.
