WPEO Recognizes Outstanding Women Business Owners and Corporations

Women Presidents' Educational Organization Celebrates Annual Awards Breakfast

NEW YORK, March 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The Women Presidents' Educational Organization (WPEO) recognized women business owners, corporations, and women's business advocates at the Annual Awards Breakfast on March 4th at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City. The event celebrated the twelve years the WPEO has created access for Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs) to private-sector opportunities. In addition, the WPEO acknowledged a NY and DC Outstanding Corporation, a NY and DC Outstanding WBE, a NY and DC WPEO Presidents' Award recipient, and a Women's Business Advocate. The WPEO provides full service third party certification to women entrepreneurs in the New York, Northern New Jersey, Southern Connecticut and the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas.

This morning, WPEO awarded:

• Pfizer as the Outstanding Corporation from the New York region;
• Rosalie Edson, Meadows Office Furniture Company, as the Outstanding WBE from the New York Region;
• Avis Yates Rivers, Technology Concepts Group, with the WPEO President's Award in the New York region;
• Capital One as the Outstanding Corporation from the DC region;
• Candice Bennett, Candice Bennett & Associates, Inc., as the Outstanding WBE from the Washington, DC region;
• Lisa Sanford, with the WPEO President's Award in the DC Region;
• Lynne Marie Finn, Superior Staff Resources, Inc., as the Outstanding Women's Business Advocate.

The Advocate is selected by WBEs based on the following criteria: involvement with WPEO, significant contributions to WPEO, contributions to women owned businesses.
