XL Catlin Promotes Ian Rutherford to head Canadian Property Business

TORONTO, June 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- XL Catlin has promoted Ian Rutherford, a 30-year insurance industry veteran, to head XL Catlin's Canadian Property business. He now manages XL Catlin's property underwriting operations in Vancouver, where he is based, as well as Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.

According to Michele Sansone, head of XL Catlin's North America Property unit, "Given Ian's decades of experience in the Canadian P&C marketplace, plus his familiarity with XL Catlin's expanded capacity and underwriting capabilities, there is no one better suited to continue building out and growing our Canadian operation. In his new role, Ian will help our clients in Canada design the right property insurance protection for their industrial and commercial properties, while making sure they take full advantage of our property risk engineering expertise to help them prevent property losses."

Mr. Rutherford joined Catlin Canada in 2010 to open its British Columbia Branch. Prior to joining XL Catlin, he spent more than two decades at GCAN Insurance Company, formerly Gerling Canada Insurance Company, including serving as vice president and regional manager for GCAN's British Columbia regional operation.
