Xtend Barre® Plie for Pink™ Initiative To Benefit Bright Pink, Breast And Ovarian Cancer Prevention Organization

BOCA RATON, Fla., Sept. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Xtend Barre® Workout (www.xtendbarreworkout.com; @Xtend_Barre), one of the fitness industry's most diverse barre programs that fuses dance, Pilates and cardio in a high energy environment, today announced a fundraising and educational initiative that will benefit Bright Pink (www.brightpink.org), the only national non-profit organization with an exclusive focus on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. Xtend Barre Plie for Pink™ will unite the 70+ U.S. and international studio locations (owners, instructors, clients and their communities) behind a common cause.

A weekend-long event, Xtend Barre Plie for Pink will be hosted on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20, 2013. Participating studios will offer a series of classes and products to benefit Bright Pink, including:

• Two or more special 55-Minute Bootcamp "Plie for Pink" charity classes, with a suggested donation of $30-$40 (fee will include the class and a special edition Xtend Barre "Plie for Pink" tank top)
• "Pink Ribbon" grip socks
• Tips and educational materials from Bright Pink for breast and ovarian cancer prevention
• Additional Plie for Pink events throughout the month of October, on a studio-by-studio basis.
• Xtend Barre Plie for Pink accessories will also be sold to benefit Bright Pink at www.xtendbarreworkout.com.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the cause, in pink tutus, pink workout apparel, toe socks and more!

Xtend Barre is a high energy workout that combines serious sculpting exercises done at the ballet barre with lively music. Created by former dancer and choreographer Andrea Rogers, the Xtend Barre Workout combines exercises at a professional ballet barre with precise concentrated movements to target small muscle groups.  Plies, releves and a series of ballet inspired cardio exercises are combined with Pilates principals as well as light weight training. The focus is on "shaping" muscles by first increasing muscle strength and then lengthening the muscles by stretching. An array of props like resistance balls, weights, stretch bands and more also keep you on your toes. The result? A strong, sculpted "dancer-like" body without unwanted bulk, and increased stamina and flexibility.  Each class is a full-body emersion that lasts 55 minutes and results show quickly. Xtend Barre also offers modified and therapeutic classes for breast cancer, post-surgical, pre-and-post-natal and clients who have been affected by personal injury.
