NEW YORK, July 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- David Tyler has been named CEO of Yonder, the leading outdoor recreation mobile app and platform. Tyler's appointment follows the company's recent announcement that it closed the first $2 million of an open $3 million preferred seed equity raise led by Vermont Seed Capital Fund.

Tyler has been with Yonder for the past five years, most recently as Chief Product Officer, leading product and business development for the company. As CEO, Tyler will continue to oversee product and business development as well as create and execute strategies to continue the growth of Yonder as the world's largest and most active community of outdoor enthusiasts.

Current Chairman and CEO David Roberts will retain his title of Chairman of the Board and continue fundraising activities and advising on broad strategy. Roberts co-founded Green Mountain Digital (now doing business as Yonder) in 2009. During his tenure, Roberts transformed the company from one of the nation's foremost digital publishers of authoritative field guides to a singular focus on Yonder.

"David Tyler is uniquely qualified to take on the leadership of Yonder, having worked on all aspects of the business," said Roberts. "He has been the driving force that has evolved Yonder to its current level of high quality and market acceptance. We view Yonder as an exciting growth engine for our company."

Since its launch in 2013, Yonder has grown from a mobile app to the leading mobile platform for outdoor enthusiasts to connect and share adventures around the world. With one of the largest databases of user-generated multimedia in outdoor and adventure travel, the company's platform is reaching a vastly expanded market by powering interactive Web experiences for various brands and organizations including The North Face, Colorado.com, The Unites States Forest Service and others.

"Our mission has always been to create a product that inspires and enables a love for the outdoors," said Tyler. "Enabling the Yonder community and platform to power interactive digital experiences across the outdoor and adventure travel industries significantly extends that mission and is core to the future of the company."

Yonder is the leading outdoor recreation mobile platform and one of the largest online communities of outdoor enthusiasts in the world. The community-driven social platform is a tool that allows users to share geo-located and activity tagged multimedia, discover new places, plan trips and interact with others who have a passion of the outdoors. Yonder's community-sourced database includes more than 20,000 destinations across the United States making it one of the most comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date travel tools available.
