Your.MD Announces the Appointment of its Clinical Advisory Board

Your.MD's Clinical Advisory Board (CAB) is an authoritative body that will review, advise and provide quality assurance from a clinical and patient perspective, on health content, clinical safety and clinical strategy for Your.MD.

Your.MD's main objective is to ensure that clinical quality and patient safety is at the core of their decision-making at all times.

Dr. Mark Davies is Chairman of the board, which consists of six highly respected and experienced members. Dr. Davies brings over 20 years of experience as a GP to Your.MD, and has held various clinical leadership roles. These include the Department of Health, Cabinet Office and as Executive Medical Director at the Health and Social Care Information Centre. Most recently, Mark was European Medical Director of a Silicon Valley-based analytics company and currently serves as non-executive director for the British Medical Journal.

Joining the Your.MD CAB are the following distinguished medical and healthcare professionals:

Prof. Maureen Baker, Deputy Chair, is an experienced general practitioner (GP) and national leader in digital technology and patient safety.  She joined Connecting for Health in 2007 and developed the international standards for digital clinical safety. She was later Clinical Director for Patient Safety at the Health and Social Care Information Centre.  She is now an international expert on patient safety and having been a Caldicott Guardian is experienced in information governance. In May 2013 she was elected as Chair of the RCGP council, taking up the position in November 2013 which she held until November 2016. She is now Chair of the Professional Record Standards Body.

Prof Nigel Unwin is the Strategic Lead for Global Public Health Research at the MRC Unit of the University of Cambridge and a visiting Professor of the Population Health Sciences at the Tropical Medicine Research Institute, University of the West Indies.  Nigel is a public health physician, with track record in studying the burden, prevention and control of chronic non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Much of this work has been in low and middle-income country settings. He worked at the University of the West Indies as Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology.

Mark Duman, MRPharm, is a rare blend of clinician (a pharmacist), management consultant and patient advocate. His experience includes clinical transformation, communications, stakeholder engagement & alliance/ partnership projects in the healthcare, life sciences, telecoms & IT sectors. At King's Fund he founded the 'Ask About Medicines' campaign & published their best-selling 'Producing Patient Information'. Mark conducted projects with the likes of AstraZeneca, Cancer Research UK, Care Quality Commission, Department of Health, JnJ, Microsoft, NHS England, Novartis, Royal College of Surgeons, Tunstall Group & UCB Pharma.  He is a (Digital) Health startup mentor, NW England Service Champion for Diabetes UK and an NHS England Clinical Entrepreneur mentor.

Dr Nick Summerton, is a general practitioner, author and public health physician. His next book 'Better Value Health Checks: A Practical Guide' is due for publication in 2018.  He is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, a fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and has been awarded a doctorate from the University of Oxford for original work on primary care diagnostics. He is also Medical Director for YorkTest.  In addition to working as a GP, Nick has occupied a variety of parallel positions including Senior Lecturer/Reader and Clinical Advisor to NICE.  Nick has written four books and published extensively on cancer, diagnostics, roman medicine and general practice.

Prof. Mahmood Adil has 25 years of medical, public health and executive management experience in the NHS and USA. His current remit, as a Medical Director in the NHS National Services Scotland, is to oversee the health intelligence and health protection functions for Scotland. He provides leadership in utilising the most comprehensive national health data and informatics capability to improve broad ranging clinical outcomes from cancer to infection control through new service models and digital health. He is also Honorary Professor of Health Intelligence & Service Effectiveness at University of Glasgow. Previously, he was National Quality & Efficiency Advisor at the Department of Health (England), World Bank advisor, visiting professor of value-based healthcare at the Manchester Business School and fellow of NHS Institute of Innovation & Improvement. He is an alumni of the Harvard Kennedy School, UK Prime Minister's Top Management Programme, Institute of Healthcare Improvement (USA) and Yale School of Public Health.
