The ZVI StraightFlo Valve (SFV) is a patent-pending, revolutionary, reciprocating compressor valve technology that results in step improvements in valve key performance indicators through its unique design.

Depending on application, up to 20% of power required to operate a reciprocating compressor is lost in the compressor's valves – with losses increasing at higher operating speeds and higher molecular weights.  In addition, the leading cause of unplanned compressor down-time is directly attributed to failures in the compressor valve, which results in costly lost production and repair costs. A Game-Changing Valve

The SFV is designed to be a direct "drop-in" replacement for all existing manufacturers' compressor valves in the market and are designed and manufactured to the American Petroleum Institute Standards: API-618.

The SFV consists of a stainless steel valve seat and carrier which houses standard modules that contains all of the wear within itself allowing for quick and easy service. The straight-through flow design of the modules results in significant improvement of the performance and reliability of the compressor. There is very little resistance to the flow of the gas through the valve resulting in a step change improvement in valve efficiency. These result in a reduction in power required to operate the compressor along with the associated reduction in emissions, or increases the throughput of the compressor at the same power rating. 

Life and reliability of compressor valves decrease with increasing compressor speed. As a result, reciprocating compressor valves traditionally have been high-cost consumable components which need to be serviced regularly and often replaced after just a few service intervals.  In fact, compressor valves operating at 1,000 rpm open and close 1,440,000 times each day, often in high temperature and high pressure applications.  These severe operating conditions combined with solid particles and liquids in the gas stream contribute to the failure of traditional valves.

When valves do fail, the time required to service and replace traditional valve designs is considerable. The patented design of the SFV with all the wear contained in the modules simplifies servicing the valves and reduces costs over the life of the valve. Servicing of the valves merely involves replacing the old modules with a new set to bring the valve back to factory fresh conditions without de-rating the valve in any way. The valves can be serviced on site, taking less than 5 – 10 minutes turnaround time per valve. All machining or replacing of valve seats is no longer required, eliminating the need for special tools and high skilled labor.

The SFV and modules can operate in conditions with up to 3000 psi differential pressure across the valves and a continuous operating temperature of 550F at operating speeds from 300 to 3600 rpm which covers up to 90% of the market. Three module material combinations are offered.
