100 Billion Meals Challenge Unites Global Partners and Creates Innovative Solutions to Tackle Hunger Worldwide

MESA, Ariz., March 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The 100 Billion Meals Challenge is proud to announce that in just two years, the organization has secured commitments to provide 30 billion meals to combat global hunger. Launched by #1 New York Times bestselling author and renowned life and business strategist Tony Robbins, and then-head of the World Food Programme former Governor David Beasley, the goal of the 100 Billion Meals Challenge is to provide 100 billion meals over 10 years and change the future of food. The challenge was established following Mr. Robbins' fulfillment of his personal commitment to provide 1 billion meals through his partnership with Feeding America.

Global hunger has risen sharply in recent years, with acute hunger surging to 730 million people following the pandemic. Additionally, 30 million people are on the brink of famine. The 100 Billion Meals Challenge is a unifying movement to amplify and facilitate initiatives to support the people and organizations working to alleviate hunger and improve food systems. As the world confronts changes in the way humanitarian assistance is delivered, this unifying campaign calling on all stakeholders to work together and find innovative solutions is critical.

For Mr. Robbins, hunger is a deeply personal cause. Having experienced food insecurity as a child, he understands the profound impact of a simple act of kindness—like the Thanksgiving meal his family received when he was 11. This pivotal moment inspired his lifelong dedication to combating hunger and expanding global access to food.

To advance the initiative, Mr. Robbins, Governor Beasley, and his team work to unite commercial actors, philanthropists, food industry leaders, and governments to create innovative solutions. The goal of the 100 Billion Meals Challenge is to engage new partnerships with public and private sector entities by coordinating large-scale food donations, supporting innovative and sustainable agricultural efforts, and responding to emergencies in areas experiencing severe food shortages. Under Governor Beasley's leadership, the WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts combating world hunger.

The 100 Billion Meals Challenge's most notable accomplishments to date include:

1. In September, Mr. Robbins and partner organizations announced their commitment to supply 10 billion meals toward the challenge at the Global Citizen Festival, which was held at the conclusion of the U.N. General Assembly. Partnering organizations include:

a) HATCH, one of the largest protein providers to U.S. food banks, committed to growing their operation to provide an additional 1 billion meals.
b) The National Pasta Association, the trade organization that represents pasta manufacturers, committed to providing 1 billion meals over 10 years.
c) The International Pasta Organisation has committed to providing 1 billion meals from the collective effort of their member organizations.
d) Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit organization empowering volunteers to pack meals for the malnourished in nearly 70 countries, has agreed to expand its operation by 2 billion meals over the challenge period.
e) Mr. Robbins, who has already delivered over 1 billion meals over 8 years through his partnership with Feeding America, has personally committed to providing an additional 1 billion meals over the next 10 years.

2. The Global Citizen commitment also included a partnership Mr. Robbins developed with Uralchem, a fertilizer producer that donated 250,000 metric tons of fertilizer to the Global South. The commitment includes 55,000 metric tons currently headed to Sri Lanka for the growing season. This uniquely structured public-private partnership will power tens of billions of meals.

3. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktou, the Ruler of Dubai, has joined the movement with the creation of the Billion Meals Endowment. After distributing the first billion meals, the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiative (MBRGI) plans to distribute another 2 billion meals in the year ahead, aiming to meet the 100 Billion Meals Challenge.
