NEW YORK, Oct. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Join us for a Dumpling-Devoted Day on Saturday, October 18th 12pm-5pm at East River State Park located in Brooklyn, NY! The event is located next to the weekly Smorgasburg, a popular weekend pastime for NYC foodies. Witness a record-breaking "Dumpling Eating Contest", a giant dumpling cutting ceremony, a walking Dumpling mascot, food/drinks, special performances, raffle draws (Grand Prize of iPad!) and much more! No ticket purchase necessary.
Competitive eaters from across the country and everyday residents gather at the 11th Annual Chef One Dumpling Eating Contest, as they attempt to upset the record of 90 dumplings in two minutes! Current record is held by competitive eater Molly Schuyler, a mother of two that has been taking the competitive eating world by storm. Schuyler's records include a 72 oz. steak in 3 minutes, 9lb burrito in 4 minutes, etc. Record-holders of both divisions will be returning to defend their titles and to hopefully set another record! One man and one woman will receive a grand prize of $1,100; in honor of our 11th anniversary. Second and third place winners will win $600 and $300 respectively.
All proceeds benefit Food Bank For New York City. Food Bank has served for 30 years as the city's major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. The day of activities is hosted by Chef One along with local sponsors.
Since 2004, Chef One Corp., a leading food manufacturer based in Brooklyn, has been hosting its annual Dumpling Eating Contest in conjunction with big events, such as Smorgasburg and NYC Dumpling Festival. It has become widely recognized in the competitive eating community.
The day features special performances by Award Winning Beatboxer "Sung Lee" (www.Sungbeats.com). Lee is the vice-champion of the 2011 Annual American Beatbox Championship, the winner of Kollaboration NY 9, and a 3 times "Amateur Night at the Apollo" 1st place winner in 2014.
Registration deadline is on 10/16/14, with a $20 registration fee, all of which is donated to Food Bank NYC. Email info@chefonecorp or call (718)744-6999 for registration!
