123.Net to Open New Data Center Facility in Southfield Michigan

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- 123.Net, a Michigan based telecommunications company, has recently announced plans to open a new state-of-the-art data center facility in Southfield, MI. 123.Net has purchased a building that will become the company's new headquarters and Michigan's largest data center with over 100,000 sq. ft of data center space.

The new facility, located at 24700 Northwestern Highway, currently houses several telecommunication carriers and has 3000 sq. ft. of move-in ready data center space, and will be the latest addition to 123.Net's portfolio of world-class telecommunication services including voice, Internet and collocation services.

"As 123.Net continues to grow, and the demand for world-class data center space increases, we have decided to develop a facility that will allow businesses in Michigan and across the country to have access to a premium facility in the Detroit area," stated Dan Irvin, CEO of 123.Net.

Plans are in place to develop the facility into a carrier-neutral, Tier 3 and Tier 4 data center space, the first of its kind in Michigan. The facility will also be an Internet Exchange, a place where Internet Service Providers (ISPs), telecommunications carriers, content providers, web-hosters and cloud providers meet to exchange IP traffic with one another. 123.Net is also working with engineering firms to utilize the latest energy-efficient technology to reduce energy costs by 60%.
