13th Annual Run the Ridge 5K Run and 1K Walk Scheduled for June 3rd in Burr Ridge
Former Hinsdale Central High School Pom Dance Team Members will "Run the Ridge" to support fitness and proper nutrition for children
BURR RIDGE, Ill., April 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Runners and Walkers of all ages will help fight childhood obesity during Run the Ridge 5K Run and 1K Walk, Saturday, June 3rd, Burr Ridge, IL. The 13th Annual Run the Ridge 5K Run starts promptly at 8 a.m. and the 1K Walk begins at 8:45 a.m. at the County Line Square Shopping Center, 150 Burr Ridge Parkway.
This event raises money for Pro Active Kids (PAK), a nonprofit, childhood obesity intervention program available at hospitals and other healthcare organizations in Illinois communities. Presently Illinois is ranked 14th in the nation for childhood obesity, and 19% of Illinois children ages 10-18 are obese.
Hinsdale Central High School Pom Dance Alumnae will come "home" to participate in the run/walk and show support for good health, nutrition and fitness for Illinois youth. Cortney Hall, morning anchor for WGN-TV, will announce the winners and Burr Ridge Mayor Mickey Straub will help kick off the event. The day of family activities will feature various entertainment groups, including jugglers and a Taekwondo team.
The 5K entry fee is $25 for participants registering before May 1 and $35 for those entering later, and it includes a t-shirt and goody bag. The fee for the 1K run/walk is $10.
