BURNSVILLE, Minn., Feb. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Let the race begin! The 15th Annual SUBWAY® BEDRACE FOR BRIDGING presented by Cities 97 takes off down snowy Buck Hill in Burnsville, Minn. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, beginning at 5 p.m. Teams of four, preferably in costume, are invited to race down the tubing hill atop specially covered and provided bed mattresses.
Registration is now open at SubwayBedrace.org. Team fees are $180 (now through Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.) or $200 at the event. Team members must be at least 18 years old and are encouraged to dress creatively and compete in the Cities 97 Costume Contest. On-site registration opens at 3 p.m. on March 2 with the first race pushing off at 5 p.m.
One hundred percent of registration fees and dollars raised benefit Bridging, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the greater Twin Cities. Bedrace team members are encouraged to raise additional funds for Bridging.
Bridging gives hope, and often a leap toward financial stability, to thousands of local families and individuals transitioning out of homelessness and poverty by providing them with furniture and household goods. For more information, visit Bridging.org.
All racers are invited to stay for the post-race concert presented by Cities 97. Prizes will be awarded to teams in the SUBWAY® Bedrace, Cities 97 Costume Contest, and Bucks for Bridging fundraising efforts.
The SUBWAY® Bedrace for Bridging was created in 1999 by local SUBWAY® Restaurants to raise awareness and funds for Bridging. The event has grown from less than 20 teams racing down Buck Hill's tubing slope, to an annual event that, since its inception, has raised more than a half a million dollars to support families transitioning out of homelessness.
