Provocative new cover depicts ordinary Americans toppling a golden Trump monument as the acclaimed series imagines a democratic resistance taking hold
NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- OneSixComics today unveiled a provocative new cover for Issue #4 of 1/6: The Graphic Novel, timed to coincide with No Kings: Vote Early, the nationwide day of voter action taking place Saturday, Oct. 17.
The new cover depicts the series' central characters joyfully toppling a towering golden statue of President Donald Trump—a pointed image of people reclaiming their power from authoritarian rule.
Written by Harvard Law School Professor Alan Jenkins and New York Times bestselling graphic novelist Gan Golan, 1/6 tells a chilling and prescient tale of the fall of American democracy and the struggle to reclaim it. The new, cover was illustrated by veteran comic artist Jason Badower.
Issue #4 brings the four-part speculative-fiction series to its dramatic conclusion. In a fictionalized America transformed by a successful insurrection, an unlikely group of ordinary people joins a growing democratic resistance. Their struggle reflects the series' central message: authoritarianism thrives when people feel isolated and powerless, but collective action can change the course of history.
"This cover captures the spirit of the final issue: joy, courage and ordinary people acting together," said Jenkins. "Democracy is not something we simply inherit. Each generation has to defend and reinvent it—and sometimes topple the monuments built to fear and unchecked power."
"Authoritarianism wants to look permanent, invincible and larger than life," said Golan. "But every golden idol has feet of clay. The real power belongs to us – the people who organize, resist, and refuse to surrender our vision for a better future that includes everyone, not just the very few."
The cover's release comes as communities across the country prepare for No Kings: Vote Early, a coordinated, nonpartisan day of voter participation on Oct. 17. Events ranging from rallies and block parties to community gatherings and walks to the polls will help eligible voters understand their options, make voting plans and participate early where state law permits.
As with previous installments, Issue #4 is accompanied by free civic-learning resources. An Educators Guide, developed by faculty at the San Diego State University Center for Comics Studies, offers discussion questions, classroom activities, assignments and suggested research. A separate Action Guide, created in collaboration with Western States Center, helps readers translate the story's themes into informed civic participation and community action.
Created by Jenkins and Golan with a team of veteran comics artists, 1/6: The Graphic Novel blends political thriller, speculative fiction and civic storytelling. Drawing on documented events surrounding Jan. 6, the series explores autocracy, scapegoating, political violence and strategic disinformation—along with the solidarity and collective courage required to defend democracy.
