16th CIFIT Achieves Great Success

XIAMEN, China, Sept. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 16th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian province, an event which included 485 projects and billions worth of investments, officially ended on Sept. 11 with a dazzling closing ceremony.

During the four-day event, delegations from across the world flocked to Xiamen, and more than 15,000 overseas investors from 120 countries and regions attended the event in search of great business opportunities. Fujian Party chief Sun Chunlan and Su Shulin, governor of Fujian province, as well as officials from domestic and abroad participated in the fair which began with a keynote address by State Councilor Ma Kai at the International Investment Forum 2012. Wan Gang, minister of science and technology also attended the event.

This year's CIFIT was bigger than ever, making it a fantastic platform for international investors.

Organizers expanded the exhibition floor space to a record 100,000 square meters from 65,000 square meters, an increase of 53.8 percent, compared with the prior year. The professional exhibitions included the tourism, real estate, green, brand, cultural creative, chemical, tea and wine industry.

More than 50 countries and regions took part in the exhibition. In particular, delegations from the United States, Japan, German, etc, expanded their presence at the exhibition, accounting for more than one third of the foreign exhibition area. Many international trade organizations also made their debut at the CIFIT including The World Trade Centers Association which set up a pavilion at CIFIT for the first time this year.

With extensive exchange and negotiation during the CIFIT, 485 projects were concluded. The total and foreign investment reached $27.04 billion and $21.83 billion, respectively. Among these projects, 263 are multimillion-dollar projects, amounting to total investment of $19.18 billion and foreign investment of $15.42 billion.
