LONDON, Sept. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Victorian Woodworks the specialist in fine antique and reclaimed wood flooring, launches new collections at Decorex International 2013, the high end interior design show for professionals.
Highlights include the introduction of a new wood, Jarrah, and new colourways to the Amphora Collection and the Grand Collection.
Meticulously sourced and beautifully restored from around the world, the Amphora Collection features 150 year old oak and pine, and now introduces Jarrah, a wood which has been reclaimed from King's Cross Station in London.
The Victorian Woodworks Jarrah planks have an interesting history. This Jarrah floor was originally installed in King's Cross Station, London in the 1840s, in the commercial warehouse area. It was fitted around the same time when the iconic London train station was built in 1840. Unusually for the period, the planks were mechanically sawn and not hand sawn, highlighting that that these boards are a historical record of the start of the industrial revolution in Britain.
Sourced from Australia, Jarrah has incredible durability and hardness, with a subtle undulating surface and fascinating grain structure that makes it ideal for flooring. Highly prized today as it was in the 19th century, Manilla comes in a mellow warm black tone similar to exotic mahogany. Exceptionally long, these wide engineered Jarrah planks are up 4 metres in length and an extraordinary 200mm wide, which show the extent of the size and age of the trees.
Six new colourways have been added to the Amphora Collection. Fashioned from reclaimed pine, Ewer meets the demand for sun-bleached colour in greyish tones in contrast to Skyphos's striking grain defined by deep inky tones and fiery highlights.
The pale alabaster tones of Aegis can been seen in this 150 year old reclaimed pine while Poculum's striking pine grain is defined by deep fire-burnt hues. Dokatu is a golden oak floor with an opulent brushed grain texture while Nimba is a golden oak floor with two warm tones that radiate through a rich dark grain. Victorian Woodworks will also be presenting a new colour addition to the Grand Collection, the Woolaston panel, an antique solid oak parquet de Versailles, which will be offered in a weathered grey tone called Driftwood Silver. This will be featured as the main floor area of Victorian Woodwork's stand at Decorex.
Both the Amphora Collection and the Grand Collection are produced in Victorian Woodworks own UK factory using modern and technically advanced manufacturing techniques that ensure that all floors can be installed with ease on to any sub-floor foundation, and as engineered wide plank floors will function over under-floor heating systems.
The Amphora Collection is available from £65/sqm to £200/sqm.
The Grand Collection is available from £130/sqm to £420/sqm.
All can be viewed at Victorian Woodworks' stand at Decorex and also in their London showroom in Mayfair.
