NEW YORK, April 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Happily Ever After or Bust, a first-person dating blog by Kelly Moore, won the 2011 Reader's Choice Award for Best Dating Blog. There were 59 nominees.
"I would like to thank all of my ex-boyfriends and bad dates for making this moment possible!" Moore said laughing.
Equal parts dating diary and introspective reflection, Happily Ever After or Bust chronicles Moore's search for Prince Charming, beginning with police guy, whom she started dating after calling the station to ask about a road closure.
"It was such a bizarre encounter it got me thinking about fate and a dating blog was born," Moore said.
Now a writer and yoga teacher, Moore's eclectic background working in the rough and tumble worlds of football, counter-terrorism and politics gives her a unique perspective on romance.
Her blog runs the gamut of dating issues and dilemmas including finding out your boyfriend is really married (bastard), going on a dating strike (sigh), appearing in Girl, What Are You Doing? Court (guilty), dating a vampire (draining, obviously), pursuing friends with benefits (because he carries you up the stairs and that's hot), the art of the do-over (still working on it), dating a younger guy (all of the above), guys who disappear (real classy), online dating (maddening), and deciding who pays on a date (it's either her bikini wax or his beer).
Moore previously worked for the National Football League; lived in three war zones working for the United Nations; served on the 9/11 Commission where she co-authored her first book, 9/11 and Terrorist Travel; helped run a global counterterrorism program at the State Department; and was the Senate press secretary to Sen. Joe Lieberman during his vice presidential bid. Her writing has been published by The New York Times and U.S. News & World Report. She is the author of a forthcoming book about yoga "off the mat," due out this summer.
Moore has a Bachelor's in sports information from the University of Southern California and Masters degrees in Russian and East European studies and journalism from Indiana University.
The contest was sponsored by About.com, a New York Times company.
