2011 Sacramento Manufacturing Summit Presented by Manex and Partners to Focus on Revitalizing U.S. Manufacturing
SAN RAMON, Calif., Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The revitalization of U.S. manufacturing and its impact on bringing jobs back to the United States will be the focus of the Sacramento Manufacturing Summit, "Making the Case for 'Made in America,'" on Thursday, November 10 at the Sacramento State Alumni Center. The event is presented by The Corporation for Manufacturing Excellence, (Manex), www.manexconsulting.com, Sacramento State, MetroPulse/Sacramento Metro Chamber, City of Sacramento Economic Development and Sacramento Works.
"Rejuvenating the nation's manufacturing sector can significantly affect job creation," says Hank Holzapfel, president of Manex. "Manufacturing has a multiplier effect that creates jobs throughout the supply chain. For every manufacturing job created, seven additional jobs are created in other sectors."
How to take advantage of manufacturing's multiplier effect will be examined and discussed in depth by the summit's keynote speaker, Harry Moser, the founder of the non-profit, Reshoring Initiative, http://www.reshorenow.org, which focuses on convincing manufacturers to return to the U.S.
Moser will explain to attendees how to evaluate the total cost of ownership, meaning the profit/loss impact of both offshoring and reshoring. He will detail how manufacturers can make the right sourcing decisions to reduce their total cost of ownership of parts and tooling, improve their balance sheet and make product innovation more effective.
The topic is part of the national agenda and of key importance to Representative Doris Matsui D-Sacramento, who will be providing opening remarks at the summit, "Manufacturing supports millions of middle-class families, drives innovation and productivity across our economy, and is crucial to America's international competitiveness," she says. "That is why I helped introduce the Make It In America Initiative in Congress, and am supportive of the efforts by Sacramento State, Manex and their other partners to put this issue in the spotlight."
The Summit will also feature a panel discussion by leaders of local Sacramento manufacturers who will share their challenges and successes firsthand. Panelists will include Rick Ellstrom, President of JB Radiator Specialties; Rick Wylie, President of Buetler Corporation; Mickey Oros, Senior Vice President with Altergy Systems; and Tom Kandris, President of American River Packaging.
The event is free and begins at 8:30 a.m. For more information and to register, go to: http://www.manexconsulting.com/?PageID=319.
