2014 Engineering Education Festa to be Held in Korea on November 27

SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 2014 Engineering Education Festa, hosted by the Ministry of Education (Minister Hwang Woo-yea) and organized by the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology (President Jeong Jae-hoon) and Korea Association for Engineering Education Innovation (Chairman Jang Dong-sik), will be held at KINTEX I, Ilsan for 2 days from November 27.

2014 Engineering Education Festa, held under the theme of "Engineering, A Bright Future, a Happy World," will feature various exhibitions and conference experience programs with a focus on 7 keywords: creativity, convergence, entrepreneurship, community service, harmony, sharing and passion.

Faculty from about 90 domestic and foreign engineering colleges, more than 200,000 attendees including middle and high school students, teachers and parents, and important people in international engineering education, including the Chairman of the International Society for Engineering Education, will participate in what is now the largest engineering festival in Korea, the Engineering Education Festa that is also quickly transforming into a global engineering event.

Outline of 2014 Engineering Education Festa

This event consists of 5 categories: opening ceremony, exhibition programs, academic and information program, participatory programs and competitive programs.

Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony will be held during which the Capstone Design Fair "Excellence Awards"* will be handed out in front of an estimated audience of 1,000 persons. In particular the opening ceremony will feature a five-part show -- the largest digital performance in Korea -- that will show the happy community that can be realized through engineering technology and warm sensibilities.

Prime Minister's award, Minister of Education awards (6 total), the President of the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology's awards (10 total), etc.

Programs

E2 Festa 2014 will run programs to expand various programs for students as well as programs to induce the interest and participation of citizens so that more people can understand the social contributions of engineering and expand their forward-looking participation.

In particular, the 3rd Engineering Education Festa is attempting various changes and improvements.

In consideration of the social status and contributions of female engineers, the Education Engineering Festa is running various programs to encourage active participation of female engineers, and is diversifying foreign students' participation in programs, which used to be limited to simply displaying their works, thereby transforming itself into a truly global engineering festival.

Also, the largest digital performance in Korea and the new Capstone Hall (Nanum Technology Hall) will help this event show how engineering education contributes to the social development of engineers who help us realize a happy world, not simply the fostering of good engineers.
