3rd Quote Cited Among 75 Leaders of Student Data Privacy by President Obama
New search feature and evaluation tool from 3rd Quote allows K-12 schools to easily find and evaluate Edtech providers committed to maintaining privacy in student data
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- While President Obama outlined his Student Digital Privacy Act legislation at the Federal Trade Commission offices on Monday, he cited 75 companies that have already signed the Student Privacy Pledge.
3rd Quote is one of the 75 prominent, early signatories of the Student Privacy Pledge. The Student Privacy Pledge was spearheaded by The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) to ensure that student data is used for educational purposes only.
3rd Quote has launched the first search tool and collaborative evaluation tool designed to empower schools to quickly identify Edtech providers that have signed the Student Privacy Pledge. 3rd Quote is also the exclusive company that provides schools the opportunity to evaluate Edtech providers based on their protection of student data.
Edwin Wargo, CEO and co-founder of 3rd Quote, noted, "As the first collaborative evaluation tool that allows schools to rate Edtech providers based on their commitment to student privacy, we are honored that President Obama mentioned 3rd Quote in the group of 75 companies. It is vital for schools to find Edtech providers that have signed the Student Privacy Pledge and we are very proud that 3rd Quote provides that search tool for schools," Wargo also states, "Democratization, empowerment, collaboration, and giving voice is in our DNA as a company, it is who we are and it defines how we approach Edtech procurement. Designing tools in this sizable $12B industry to protect student data is of utmost importance to 3rd Quote."
"Our goal at 3rd Quote is to remove any barriers in the discovery of which Edtech companies support the Student Data Privacy Pledge and to make this process easy for both schools and providers," states Alpesh Patel, 3rd Quote COO & co-founder. "The Student Data Privacy Search function allows the nation's over 132,000 schools to click a simple box to search for Edtech providers that have joined the Student Privacy Pledge and Edtech providers enjoy the same simple checkbox functionality to tell the nation's schools that they also support Student Data Privacy."
3rd Quote's Report Card - which is the nation's first collaborative Edtech evaluation tool - includes a Student Data Privacy rating. School stakeholders can use the Report Card to collaboratively evaluate Edtech providers using pre-loaded milestones and rating categories.
Wargo concludes, "It is a huge honor to be cited by President Obama along with this amazing group of leaders and visionaries that are committed to protecting student data."
