4 Star Camps Announces New Summer College Prep Camp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 4 Star Camps (http://www.4starcamps.com) announces the creation of an academic summer camp titled University Pursuit. This three-week program was designed as an exhaustive College Prep program offering students the opportunity to combine SAT Prep with college selection workshops and college tours.  

The primary partner for the University Pursuit program is Corporate Insights, Inc. (http://www.corporateinsights.com). In business since 1969, Corporate Insights is a management consulting firm specializing in assessment/selection, team-building, leadership and organization development for organizations around the world. They have developed a series of questionnaires titled College Career Insights based on both the student's personality and interests in a scientific manner. It even includes a component for the parent to complete that measures how close the parent and the student align in the college selection process. These questionnaires are designed to identify the best fit between the student and the school. Some of the variables being measured include large school vs. small school, conservative vs. liberal, competitive vs. more supportive, urban vs. rural, etc.

Once the student completes the assessments, Corporate Insights provides 4 Star with the results to create the workshop portion of the class. This one-week workshop facilitated by an academic adviser explores the results with the students through various group discussions and also includes mock interviews and writing the college essay.

The University Pursuit program is an extension of a few different courses offered the past several years. The final component of the University Pursuit program is the college tours. "We have lined up tours of some of the best colleges and universities in the mid-Atlantic region," Popple continued, "encompassing all the various types of schools from the questionnaire - small, large, suburban, urban, rural, private and public." The students will tour the following schools: Georgetown University, George Washington University, Virginia Tech, Washington & Lee University, University of Richmond, College of William & Mary, Duke University, University of North Carolina and the University of Virginia.

There are two sections available this summer at the University of Virginia: Jun 26 - Jul 15 and Jul 17 - Aug 5. Students have the option of selecting the full three-week program or can select just the week or weeks they want to attend as each of the three components are set up as standalone programs. Registration is currently open to new students.
