44th Annual Thoth Awards Gala Honors Best Communications Campaigns In Washington

Media and PR Professionals Gather for Annual Awards Gala to Celebrate Achievements of Area Communicators

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America - National Capital Chapter (PRSA-NCC) celebrated the value of public relations and honored the talent in Washington public relations professionals at its 44^th annual Thoth Awards Gala on Thursday, September 13, held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. 

This year's awards gala theme was "Celebrating the Champions" with special guest presenter, Michael Weiss, a two-time Olympian, two-time World Bronze medalist and three-time U.S. champion figure skater. The gala included local DC media and nearly 200 attendees. The gala presented 31 Thoth Awards and 20 Certificates of Excellence to regional communications stars. 

The Thoth "Best of Show" award was presented toOgilvy Washington with the National Kidney Disease Education Program for the "Kidney Sundays Help African Americans Understand their Risk for Kidney Disease" campaign.

A distinguished panel of judges selected the finalists based on a detailed review of the submissions from a wide array of public relations agencies, private sector companies, government organizations, nonprofits, and trade and professional associations.
