4D Security Solutions Taps Intelligence Experts to Join Executive Team

NEW YORK, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- 4D Security Solutions, a premier developer of technology-based homeland security systems and solutions, today announced the appointments of Thomas Betro and John A. Gill, two highly respected security and intelligence experts, as Senior Advisors in its Law Enforcement Initiative division.

With more than 50 years of combined experience, Mr. Betro and Mr. Gill will help guide the development and implementation of law enforcement and anti-crime technology at 4D.

Prior to joining 4D, Mr. Betro was the Director of the United States Department of the Navy's Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) where he oversaw more than 2,700 civilian and military personnel with a presence in 41 countries and 160 locations worldwide. He served as the Navy's senior official and was responsible for criminal, counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations and security programs.

Mr. Gill served most recently as the Chief Security Officer at the Executive Office of the President. In that role, he led the development, implementation and management of the security policies and programs for the White House and the multiple components of the Executive Office of the President. During his tenure at the Secret Service, Mr. Gill held several key positions within both protective and investigative missions and senior management appointments to the offices of Public Affairs and Congressional Affairs.

Thomas A. Betro

Senior Advisor, Law Enforcement Initiative

Mr. Betro brings more than 27 years of experience in managing and directing counterintelligence, counterterrorism, law enforcement, and cyber and security programs. He held various senior positions at the U.S. Department of the Navy's Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS). At 4D, Mr. Betro will take a leadership role developing its law enforcement and anti-crime technology, drawing on his operational experience. He will play a pivotal role in outreach to the law enforcement market throughout the United States.

Most recently, he was the Director of the NCIS where he oversaw more than 2,700 civilian and military personnel with a presence in 41 countries and 160 locations worldwide. He served as the Navy's senior official and was responsible for criminal, counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations and security programs.

Mr. Betro has been recognized for his exemplary work by his peers and is a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions including the U.S. Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award, Roger W. Jones Award for Executive Leadership and the Presidential Meritorious Executive Rank Award. He received his BS at Colby College and his MA in National Security and Strategic Studies at the Naval War College.

John A. Gill

Senior Advisor, Law Enforcement Initiative

Mr. Gill will lead in developing 4D's law enforcement and anti-crime technology, drawing on his operational experience. He will play a pivotal role in outreach to the law enforcement market throughout the United States. He brings 26 years of law enforcement and security experience to the company. He has executive level expertise in leading both domestic and international programs in federal law enforcement, security and crisis management.

Prior to joining the private sector, Mr. Gill served most recently as the Chief Security Officer at the Executive Office of the President. In that role, he led the development, implementation and management of the security policies and programs for the White House and the multiple components of the Executive Office of the President.

During his career with the United States Secret Service, Mr. Gill held several key positions within both the protective and investigative missions and senior management appointments to the offices of Public Affairs and Congressional Affairs. Additionally, as the Attache in Paris, France, Mr. Gill was responsible on behalf of the Secret Service for direct operational and diplomatic coordination with representatives at the highest levels of foreign law enforcement, security and intelligence directorates.

Mr. Gill received his BS at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. He speaks both Spanish and French.
