QUITMAN, Texas, April 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Lake Fork Sportsman's Association is hosting the 7th annual Lake Fork Classic Catfish Tournament June 20 and 21, 2015-- an event for anglers of all ages to reel in cash and prizes for catfish caught in the waters of Lake Fork, Texas.

Peoples Telephone Cooperative (Quitman, TX) has guaranteed a payout of $25,000 to the angler who catches a new Texas State Record Catfish or $10,000 for a new Lake Fork record. Other payouts totaling over $24,000 will be awarded during the two-day event, including cash for the top four fish every hour on both days and payouts for the top seven catches overall. This is a fun event for the whole family with divisions including: seniors, ladies and juniors. Both boat and bank fishing are allowed - a unique aspect of this tournament.
The tournament is set for June 20 and 21 with official fishing hours from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. On-line and mail-in registration is currently available to all interested participants. Check-in and late registration is available Friday, June 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 20 from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Marina's official tournament headquarters on Hwy 154 in Quitman.

Lake Fork Reservoir is a 27,000-acre lake constructed in the 1980's by the Texas Utility District. The lake has matured into one of the best fishing and waterfowl recreational areas in East Texas.
The Lake Fork Sportsman's Association is a non-profit 501(c) 3, whose mission is through it's membership, will strive to protect and promote Lake Fork's natural resources for future generations by working with state and local agencies. Funds earned through this tournament go towards many projects to support the natural resources of Lake Fork which include (but are not limited to) brush plantings, man made fish attractors, bridge signage and the Live Release Boat which helps maintain the health of fish caught during tournaments.
