6fusion Releases Next Generation Cloud Platform
UC6 Version 3.1 provides expanded hybrid cloud capabilities, an integrated application library, robust third-party integration tools and powerful self-service capabilities
RALEIGH, N.C., April 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- 6fusion, the leading provider of utility billed Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for the channel, today announced the general availability of its next generation cloud computing platform: UC6 Version 3.1. The release provides expanded hybrid cloud enablement capabilities, an integrated application library, a robust set of APIs and expanded user self-service capabilities.
Expanding on 6fusion's innovative Workload Allocation Cube (WAC) technology and UC6's multi-tenant distributed architecture, Version 3.1 extends utility metered, self-service, IaaS capabilities into private and community-based infrastructure clouds. UC6 Version 3.1 provides a vendor agnostic "single pane of glass" management experience that allows organizations to dynamically take advantage of internal and external infrastructure - all metered using the WAC. "We are very excited to be changing the game again," said John Cowan, CEO and co-founder of 6fusion. "We introduced the first truly utility metered cloud platform, and with Version 3.1, we are expanding that platform out to hybrid and community cloud environments."
Version 3.1 also introduces the 6fusion Application Library - a centralized repository of application and workload templates that allow users to select and deploy systems in minutes, greatly simplifying the process of deploying new cloud-based machines. The Application Library consists of standardized Windows Server Systems offered under 6fusion's Microsoft SPLA Program, as well as applications certified under 6fusion's ECO6 Alliance Partner Program, including products and managed services from Asigra, Fortinet, Network Box, RASSonline, and e-ternity.
Enterprise and Service Provider customers also have the ability to create their own private Application Libraries within the system, increasing standardization and security while making it simpler and faster for their users to deploy their own applications. "Leveraging the Application Library, we were able to very quickly roll out complete customer back office networks," said Sean Cody, President of SJC Consulting, a 6fusion solution provider. "Access to templated systems and third-party applications makes taking the 6fusion solution to market very simple. It's easy to choose the certified solutions that can help us the most right out of the box."
Additionally, Version 3.1 debuts a new set of robust public web service APIs. The new REST-based API set allows third-party software developers, enterprises, and resellers to integrate their product and solution offerings with UC6. These integrated solution offerings optimize workflows, simplify back office operations and streamline billing and chargebacks.
Finally, Version 3.1 includes a new web-based console, powerful user self-service capabilities and an improved user experience. "Customer feedback is critically important in a new and emerging market like cloud-based infrastructure," said Rob Bissett, VP of Product Management for 6fusion. "3.1 reflects our customers' needs, feedback and experiences. We are excited to help propel them forward to even greater success with this new release."

About 6fusion
6fusion's UC6 Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform provides an end-to-end cloud management platform for public, private and hybrid clouds, viewable in a single console. Users can choose the data center that houses their workloads, overcoming many of the concerns about using the cloud. And unlike many "cloud plays" in the market, 6fusion's iNode Network is not limited by any one type of application architecture, format or operating system. The biggest differentiator is 6fusion's unique metering algorithm - the Workload Allocation Cube - which turns the cloud into a pay-per-use billable utility and provides insight into consumption and cost performance.
