90% of Americans Would Rather Lose Their Wallet Than These Cherished Devices

PHILADELPHIA, June 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Smoketip, an American Electronic Cigarette company, released the results of a survey about personal electronics. "We were trying to understand how attached people are to their electronics and which ones in particular they spent the most time with," said Mitchell Renner general manager of Smoketip.

"There were a few survey responses that jumped out at us, " Mitchell says. "The first one was that 90% of Americans surveyed would rather loose their wallet than their smartphone, and 70% of Americans surveyed would rather lose their wallet than their electronic cigarette."

The reasons offered for their preferences ran the gamut, but the reason most people offered for picking choosing losing their smartphone over their wallet is that they felt "they wouldn't exist" or couldn't stand the thought of being "disconnected" from calls, e-mail, and social media.

The electronic cigarette is still unknown to most Americans, but people who have chosen to stop using traditional cigarettes and start vaping an electronic cigarette responded very strongly to the prospect of loosing their e-cig because that may leave them tempted to smoke a traditional cigarette.

While modern technology evolves at a faster and faster pace, the line is blurring between helpful technology devices to cherished objects people won't leave the house without. "The thing that stuck with me the most," says Renner, "were the respondents that said they felt like they wouldn't exist without their smartphone."
