LONDON, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ --TV's favourite meerkat, Aleskandr Orlov, founder of comparethemeerkat.com, is making the early running in the race for a best selling book this Christmas. Just hours after pre-ordering opened, A Simples Life, My Life and Times hit number one on Amazon's "Movers and Shakers" chart and number two in the "Hot Future Releases" list. The book goes on sale nationally from all leading book retailers on 28th October.
Aleksandr is facing tough competition from the likes of Tony Blair, Nelson Mandela and Stephen Fry in the race for a best seller. But the strong early showing of A Simples Life is no surprise given the iconic status the British public have awarded Aleksandr since his first TV appearance in 2009. The businesskat entrepreneur has amassed over 750,000 Facebook fans, around 40,000 followers on Twitter and his recent iSimples iphone application has attracted over 700,000 subscribers, reaching No.1 on the iTunes free app download chart. Last Christmas when 5,000 limited edition Aleksandr Orlov soft toys went on sale in Harrods, demand was so high, rather than sell them the retailer decided to give them all to local children's charities instead.
Speaking from the whirly bath of his Russian mansion Aleksandr said, "Buckle your cravat and prepare for have your whiskers quiver. My story of struggles, successes and Sergei is the greatest, most thrillsy book ever written by a meerkat in the bath. With this book, I am hope to inspire the next generation of young businesskats. And with royalties I am hope to re-marble roof on Orlov family mansion. Please enjoyment."
Aleksandr wrote his family history as part of his ongoing efforts to stop people looking for good deals on car insurance at www.comparethemarket.com from visiting his site by mistake.
A Simples Life lifts the lid on Aleksandr's own life, starting with his early years at Madame Meerstropovich's Academy for Talented Meerkats and his first entrepreneurial scheme, the 'Homework Done In Exchange For Tasty Food Things' business (it sounded better in Russian apparently). Aleksandr also recalls his semi successful forays into acting and music, his fateful first meeting with Sergei and reveals the names of the actors that will play himself and Sergei when (not if) his own remarkable life story is immortalised on film.
A Simples Life, My Life and Times, by Aleksandr Orlov is published by Ebury Press with the (RRP pounds sterling 9.99) and available to pre-order from www.amazon.co.uk and on sale nationally from all leading book retailers from 28th October, 2010.
