A New Year's Eve Celebration To Ring In Hope For Area Charities

ASHBURN, Va., Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The fourth annual Ringing In Hope: A New Year's Eve Celebration race will be held December 31, 2013 at Brambleton Town Center. Registration is officially open for the New Year's Eve event. A signature event for the Ringing In Hope series, this race draws participants from all over the region and from around the county. The event features a 5K & 10K race on a USATF certified scenic course and a 1K walk/fun run. The walk kicks off at 12:00 pm, followed by the 5K and 10K race at 1:00 pm and 1:15 pm, respectively.

Those who register by November 15^th can take advantage of early bird pricing, and long-sleeved performance t-shirts are guaranteed to all who register by Monday, December 9.  Registration is available online at www.ringinginhope.com.

As in past years, the Ringing In Hope traditions continue as race participants will have access to hors d'oeuvres served at the finish line and post-race massages, as well as free family fun activities to include pony rides, a barrel train ride, face painting, tattoos, music, moon bounces, and more.  In addition, all race participants will have their photo taken as they cross the finish line. Following the race, prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female overall winners in each race, as well as the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories (14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, etc.).  Great raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the event, thanks to the many generous community sponsors. Nearly $5,000 in awards and prizes will be given out during the event.

All race-day registration will be outdoors at Brambleton Town Center to accommodate growing crowds and will be available starting at 11:00 am on race day. Children who participate in the fun run/walk will receive a jingle bell to proudly wear around their neck as they ring in hope for great causes.

This year's race beneficiaries include Children's National Medical Center (The Brain Institute), Capital Caring, and Friends of Loudoun Mental Health. Representatives of each charity will be available to showcase their efforts and services to the community.  One hundred percent of all funds raised on behalf of each participating charity will be received by that charity.

The races will be timed by Commonwealth Race Management, a division of Potomac River Running, which brings state of the art timing and professional race management services to the event and allows race organizers to concentrate their efforts on making Ringing in the Hope a one of a kind event. Race participants will have access to changing rooms and shower facilities throughout the event at Sport & Health of Brambleton.

Volunteers are needed to help accommodate growing crowds and assist with the race course duties as well as family fun activities. Last year's event drew more than 1,700 participants, and race organizers are expecting an even greater turn out for this New Year's Eve event.  Volunteers are eligible to receive high school service credit hours.  All interested volunteers should please e-mail Ringing In Hope at [email protected].
