TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Dec. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Businesses across the country are strengthening the diversity and inclusiveness of their teams and reaping the benefits. According to a survey conducted by CEB Global, nearly 8 out of 10 executives say diversity is increasingly important in helping them achieve their business goals.
"Setting a goal of achieving greater diversity in your workforce is a valuable resolution for the New Year," said Cissy Proctor, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. "The Florida Unique Abilities Partner Program highlights businesses that demonstrate their support and commitment to individuals with disabilities. I look forward to seeing this program gather momentum across the state and appreciate all who are working together to help everyone achieve their dreams in Florida."
In October, the state of Florida launched the Unique Abilities Partner Program to enhance opportunities for individuals with disabilities and the organizations that support them. The Florida Unique Abilities Partner Program was designed to reduce unemployment among those who are willing, ready and able to contribute to our workforce by raising awareness about the economic and social benefits of employing these individuals.
"As businesses set priorities for 2017, I encourage them to join the movement in becoming a Florida Unique Abilities Partner," said Susan Ventura, M.S., President and Chief Executive Officer of Easter Seals Florida, Inc. "The new year is a good time to reflect on your company's progress over the past year and plan for your future success. By becoming a partner, you can send a strong message of social responsibility to current and prospective customers."
Studies demonstrate that diversity and inclusion is good for business. CEB research finds that in a diverse workforce where the perspectives of employees with a variety of backgrounds and life experiences are valued, performance among employees improves by 12 percent, and retention improves by 20 percent.
