LOS ANGELES, April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hospitality expert Cristina Davalos is taking on the city of angels after being selected as the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences' (AAHS) trustee of the Star Diamond Award in Los Angeles in December of 2013. However, her new role nominating the city's best restaurants, hotels, and spas for the globally recognized award is only the start of her service.  Davalos is also set to expand her consulting and event planning business, where she may polish and perfect L.A.'s "diamonds" in the rough.

"It is such a thrill to explore Los Angeles' many fine restaurants, hotels, spas, and other luxury establishments" says Davalos.  "The hospitality scene here is unlike any in the country, and I cannot wait to delve in, giving recognition with a Star Diamond nomination where it is due and also sharing my knowledge and skills with those businesses looking to rise to the top of the game."

Davalos began her career in Ecuador, planning large-scale hospitality events in South America, and working with globally recognized chefs. She quickly made a name for herself among hospitality industry professionals and was soon collaborating as a recruiter for the prestigious Academie Culinaire de France, where Davalos frequently managed hospitality events throughout the world involving the mutual collaboration of both American Academy of Hospitality Sciences and the Academie. At the Bocuse D'Or in Paris 2011, an event frequently referred to as the culinary equivalent of the Olympic Games, she was a Guest of Honor. Later, Davalos settled in South Florida to take on the position as Food Critic and Restaurant Editor for Social Florida's Guide, before being selected as the AAHS's International Trustee for the Star Diamond Award in Los Angeles last year. She recently returned from Mexico where she inspected hotel standards and restaurants that meet the Star Diamond criteria for new 2014 awards. Now she is ready to experience all that Los Angeles has to offer.

"I am so grateful to have worked alongside so many prestigious chefs and business owners from around the world," says Davalos.  "Now, I am sure I will have the pleasure of forming several new relationships with the many outstanding individuals and businesses in the Los Angeles area."
