ABC NorCal's electrician trainee and electrical apprenticeship programs provide WyoTech students the opportunity to continue their training
LIVERMORE, Calif., May 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Students displaced by the recent closure of the WyoTech Fremont campus have the opportunity to continue their education and training with Associated Builders and Contractors, Northern California's (ABC NorCal) state-approved electrician trainee or electrical apprenticeship programs.
To work as an electrician in California, you must be a state certified electrician, an apprentice in a state-approved program or an electrician trainee actively enrolled in a state-approved school.
ABC NorCal's state-approved electrician trainee program offers a combination virtual classroom learning with onsite, hands-on labs. This learning model allows students to work during the day and take their classes at night from the convenience of their home. It is also flexible, so students can determine the order and progression of their classes. WyoTech students who were part-way through their program can enroll and start with their most recent course.
ABC NorCal's state-approved electrical apprenticeship program is a good fit for most WyoTech students who have some level of on-the-job experience. Individuals can test into the five-year program and be placed according to their level of skill and experience. Unlike the electrician trainee program, the electrical apprenticeship program combines both classroom and on-the-job training. And it is free to the student.
