Abercorn International School Welcomes New Headmistress
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The parents of Abercorn International School, and the thriving community of Lakeway are delighted to welcome their new Headmistress, Mrs. Franciska Bayliss.
This school year Abercorn sees its largest and most experienced staff ever, led by the talented Mrs. Bayliss, a British born educator with over 30 years of experience leading world-class private schools. A host of new specialist teachers have also joined the team, providing additional expertise and enthusiasm in the subjects of Mandarin, Music, ICT, Library and Drama. Our Physical Education program, which has always delivered amongst other things, exceptional swim instruction to all our students - even our youngest - looks poised to take on a new level of focus with its expanded team.
With Abercorn International School steps away from its authorization as an International Baccalaureate World School, Mrs. Bayliss and her team remain committed to providing the highest quality, intellectually challenging, international education for families in the Lake Travis area.
Mrs. Bayliss remarked: "Austin offers a dynamic combination of the fierce independence and gravitas of Texas, enhanced through the sophisticated entrepreneurial global focus of this leading city. At Abercorn we are well-poised, with the help of talented staff and our innovative curriculum to channel that momentum in to real progress on an individualized and holistic basis for our children."
As activity at the school heats up, applications continue to flow in, a result of the school's 'rolling admissions' process, enabling the school to process families' applications for entry outside of the traditional admissions timetable (providing space is available). The school is buzzing with teachers and anticipation, all deep in preparations for orientation and the long-awaited back-to-school picnic. "We are counting down until we can open our doors and welcome in the heart of the school - our families and their children new and returning..." concluded Mrs. Bayliss.
Abercorn International School opened in Lakeway in 2010 and is the sister school to Abercorn School in London, established in 1987, and The British International School of New York. Abercorn International School does not fundraise from its parents or constituents.
The school serves children from 2 1/2 to 11 and provides a world-class globally focused education, underpinned by the high-standards and rigor of math and literacy of the English National Curriculum, and a robust language program of Mandarin and Spanish from the age of 2 1/2.
