COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP announced today that Ronald "Rocky" A. Robins, Jr. has re-joined the firm as a partner in the Columbus office. Immediately prior to joining Vorys, Robins served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Abercrombie & Fitch Co. He also served as the company's chief compliance officer. Prior to joining Abercrombie in November 2009, Robins was a partner at Vorys.
"The firsthand experience Rocky acquired during his time as Abercrombie's chief legal officer will be invaluable for the firm's retail and public company clients, as well as for companies that have small in-house legal departments or that outsource their legal needs," said Russ Gertmenian, Vorys' managing partner. "In particular, his experience addressing the rapidly evolving employment law landscape, corporate activism, international expansion, internet competition and changing technology will provide a unique perspective for our clients."
While at Abercrombie, Robins was responsible for oversight of the company's entire domestic and international legal department, and addressed matters such as SEC disclosure, corporate governance, litigation strategy and board and committee matters. He also co-chaired the company's crisis management committee and actively participated in the company's international expansion efforts.
Robins will practice in the corporate group and focus on transactions, general corporate law, corporate governance and general counsel services.
"I'm excited to return to Vorys," Robins said. "I was very privileged to work with the terrific legal and leadership teams at A&F. I learned so much during my time there and developed an intimate knowledge of the issues in-house corporate counsel face daily -- from crises and budgets to employment issues, shareholder engagement and overseas competition. I look forward to using that knowledge to help the firm's clients."
Robins has been listed as a leading corporate and M&A lawyer in the Chambers USA guide and was named one of the "Best Lawyers in America" in corporate law. He has been a fellow of the Columbus Bar Foundation since 1999.
Robins received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and his B.A. summa cum laude from Duke University. He is active in community matters, sitting, or having sat, on several leading not-for-profit boards. Robins and his wife, Mary, have three children and live in Upper Arlington.
