Long-term investment reflects bank's continued growth, modernization and commitment to Chicago

CHICAGO, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ABOC, also known as Amalgamated Bank of Chicago, has relocated its corporate headquarters and opened a new full-service branch at 101 N. Wacker Drive in Chicago's Loop neighborhood.

The bank occupies approximately 40,000 square feet of office and retail space, including two floors dedicated to executive offices and operational teams, as well as a new full-service branch on the ground floor at the corner of Wacker Drive and Washington Street.

Founded in 1922, ABOC has grown into a leading commercial bank serving unions, public entities, businesses and individuals nationwide. The relocation marks the latest milestone in the bank's continued evolution, underscoring its relationship-driven approach to banking and long-term investment in Chicago.

ABOC is partnering with building ownership to remodel the plaza in front of the Bank, to better serve its customers. When construction is complete, the new branch will feature dedicated banker offices, teller and customer service areas, an ATM, night-deposit capabilities, and an open layout overlooking the renovated 101 N. Wacker building lobby and the bustling Loop business community. Designed to improve accessibility and convenience, the branch offers customers a centrally located downtown destination for both commercial and personal banking needs. Weaver says it is "a premier location to serve our customers and be able to best showcase ABOC's brand."

The headquarters was designed to support collaboration, productivity and evolving workplace technology. The space includes open work areas, private offices, meeting rooms, a boardroom, reception and café spaces, and a dedicated Trust and Investment Center. An employee amenity floor and open lounge provide additional gathering spaces, while natural light and an open floor plan promote communication and teamwork across departments.

Weaver also recognized the business partners and union workers who played a critical role in completing the project. GARNETT Architects led the design of the new headquarters and branch. Cushman & Wakefield represented ABOC in the real estate search and lease negotiations.
