ACCEL Schools Appoints Dr. William J. Bennett As Founding Provost of New Classical Academy Network

MCLEAN, Va., July 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- ACCEL Schools has named Dr. William J. Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education and author of The Book of Virtues, as Founding Provost of a new network of Classical Academies—a bold step in reimagining virtual education through the lens of classical tradition and civic virtue. Launching this fall in four states, these full-time, tuition-free public schools combine timeless educational principles with the flexibility of an online model designed to meet the needs of today's families.

As demand surges for virtues-driven alternatives to conventional public schooling, Jefferson Classical Academies offer students a curriculum grounded in great books, rich history, clear thinking, and moral character—led by one of the nation's most respected voices in education reform.

• Founders Classical Academy Online* – K-10 (enrolling now)
• Alabama Virtual Classical Academy at Sylacauga* – K-8 (enrolling soon)

*These schools are supported by ACCEL Schools through service or district partnerships with charter networks or public school systems.

Each school offers a rigorous classical curriculum supported by live instruction from certified teachers and a robust virtual campus.

Dr. Bennett also serves as Provost to two brick-and-mortar Jefferson Classical Academies: Mosaic Classical Academy in Toledo, Ohio, and Clarksburg Classical Academy in Clarksburg, West Virginia—extending his leadership across both physical and virtual classrooms.
