Accessible Archives, Inc. Names ALA Summer Raffle Winner: University of North Florida

MALVERN, Pa., July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Accessible Archives, Inc.®, a publisher of electronic full-text searchable historical databases, has announced the winner of its raffle drawing conducted in the exhibit booth at the 2011 ALA Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Thomas G. Carpenter Library at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville was the drawing winner. The library will receive a full one-year subscription to the Accessible Archives family of databases: African American Newspapers: The 19th Century; American County Histories to 1900; The Civil War; Godey's Lady's Book; The Liberator; The Pennsylvania Gazette; South Carolina Newspapers; and The Virginia Gazette.

Jeffrey T. Bowen, Director, Technical Services, said, "We are thrilled to be able to offer these historic databases to our faculty and students. This subscription will provide an opportunity to explore the variety of content, and to discuss with our professors the ways in which it will support our coursework in History and related disciplines."

In an additional effort to support the local library community, Accessible Archives also is presenting a one-year subscription to its database collection to Xavier University of New Orleans, the only historically Black Catholic University in the United States.
