Accident Cleaners and Restoration Announces Scholarship Recipients for Upcoming Victim Witness Services Conference

GAINESVILLE, Fla., June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Accident Cleaners and Restoration Inc., a Florida-based crime scene cleanup company, has chosen to sponsor three professionals to attend the Florida Network of Victim Witness Services conference next month.

The company invited victim rights and victims services professionals to apply for scholarships that will pay for their conference attendance. Scott Baggett of Paws for Justice, Melissa Kunz of the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, and Tamera Stewart of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office were chosen to attend the conference later this month. The conference, which features the theme of "United & Empowered We Stand," features information sessions led by victims' rights professionals from across the state of Florida.

Crystal Pinkston, co-owner of Accident Cleaners and Restoration, has been invited to speak at the conference in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, hosting a session called "Biohazard 101: Restoring Hearts and Homes." Her session will aim to help advocates and crisis responders prepare for questions they will encounter when working with victims who are faced with a suicide, homicide, or unexpected or unattended death.

"Recent budget cuts are a necessary evil in today's economy, and in most areas of the state it has affected victims' services by decreasing the funds available for training," Pinkston said. "However, it's still necessary for professionals to learn from organizations such as the Florida Network of Victim Witness Services. We decided to give away the scholarships because we wanted to give back to professionals we feel are the heart and backbone for many victims of crime. We felt like it was our way to pay it forward."
