Accredited Testing Laboratory Recertified to Environmental Management Program
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Westpak, Inc., a leading third-party product and package testing laboratory, was recently recertified to be in compliance with the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System (EMS) protocol. The firm's two locations first achieved certification to the international standard in 2011.
The outside auditors who visited Westpak during the recertification process were impressed with the changes the company has implemented. "One of our biggest improvements came from changing our lunch rooms over from canned sodas to a soda machine," commented Catherine Dowling, Quality Manager, "which saved us a lot of money as well. That was a reduction of about 10,000 aluminum cans per year!"
Compliance to ISO 14001:2004 assures Westpak's clients, employees, neighbors, and other external stakeholders the firm has implemented effective internal programs to meet federal and state environmental laws, while minimizing resource consumption, waste production, and the use of hazardous materials.
