Action Car and Truck Accessories donates $20,000 to Support Red Cross Efforts in Fort McMurray, Alberta
CALGARY, Alberta, May 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Action Car and Truck Accessories, Canada's leading distributor and retailer of automotive aftermarket accessories, announced that they have donated $20,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to provide support to those in need in the Fort McMurray region.
"I am excited and proud of our team's strong desire to want to help," said John Chamberlaine, President and CEO of Action Car and Truck Accessories. "When we learned of the unfortunate news, many employees throughout the country were quick to ask how our team could help those in need."
To help facilitate employee donations, Action offered payroll deduction to all staff from coast to coast. A note also stated that the company would match every dollar donated by employees.
"I want to personally thank our employees, vendors, customers and all Albertans who stopped by in support of our fund raising effort," Chamberlaine said.
In addition to staff donations, Grand Opening events which were scheduled months in advance, took place on May 7th in Grande Prairie, Edmonton and Calgary. BBQ fundraisers were held at each event with Action matching all proceeds raised plus the company donated an additional 10% of all grand opening sales generated on this day.
"It was a heartfelt moment when the Bergmuller family walked in to our Calgary store," said Jason Wells, Director of Marketing. "Hailey and Jaden Bergmuller handed me $162.65 in a zip lock bag while their parents Amanda and Brandon told me that the kids had raised these funds selling ice tea and cookies earlier in the day, it was an inspirational moment for all of us and we were happy to match their donation!"
Calgary Store Manager, George Manchester presented a cheque for $20,000 on behalf of Action Car and Truck Accessories to Alen Okanovic of the Canadian Red Cross on May 18th.
