ActiveBatch® IT Automation Debuts Microsoft System Center Orchestrator 2012 Support, Microsoft Dynamics AX Enhancements
Extensions in New Service Pack 2 Enable Users to Integrate More Fully With Two of Microsoft's Most Popular Enterprise Business Solutions
LAS VEGAS, April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MICROSOFT MANAGEMENT SUMMIT 2013 -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), maker of ActiveBatch® IT Automation Without BoundariesSM, today announced enhanced automation capabilities for Microsoft environments with the release of Service Pack 2 (SP2) for ActiveBatch Version 9. Featuring a new extension for Microsoft System Center Orchestrator 2012 and major improvements to the existing Microsoft Dynamics AX extension, the latest version of ActiveBatch further consolidates "point" scheduling tools, giving IT organizations a single automation solution for both business and IT operational processes.
By deepening support for two of Microsoft Corp.'s leading enterprise packages, ActiveBatch addresses the growing needs of Microsoft customers to automate a broad range of tasks. Specific additions and features include:
- ActiveBatch Extension and Integration Pack for System Center Orchestrator 2012: New two-way System Center Orchestrator integration allows System Center users to augment the runbook automation capabilities of System Center Orchestrator with the job scheduling and workload automation capabilities found in ActiveBatch. The ActiveBatch Extension for System Center Orchestrator allows IT organizations to schedule and run System Center Orchestrator Runbooks from within ActiveBatch—as well as for ActiveBatch Jobs to be directly accessed and triggered from within System Center Orchestrator using the Integration Pack. As the newest conduit for Microsoft System Center integration, the System Center Orchestrator Extension joins existing Extensions for System Center Operations Manager 2012, System Center Service Manager 2012 and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012.
- Improved Capabilities for Microsoft Dynamics AX Extension: Building on the ActiveBatch Microsoft Dynamics AX Extension announced last October, Service Pack 2 offers a number of improvements and refinements. Now users can better schedule and automate Microsoft Dynamics AX processes and integrate those processes throughout the enterprise with process types from various applications and data sources. Additionally, new Job Steps simplify the automation and management of build and release processes for Microsoft Dynamics AX environments.
"More than ever before, ActiveBatch is now the ideal single-point automation solution for IT organizations operating in diverse, Microsoft-led environments," said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. "Our goal with ActiveBatch is to conquer automation boundaries wherever they occur. The powerful extensions better equip Microsoft enterprise customers not only within their specific application spheres, but also throughout the enterprise regardless of the physical and/or virtual mix of applications, databases, operating systems, infrastructure or geography."
Commenting on the ActiveBatch Extension for Microsoft Dynamics AX, Steve Marchetti, Integration Architect at global engineering and project management company AMEC, said, "Using the traditional utilities to schedule the update of our Microsoft Dynamics AX environments was tedious and complex with no way to view the return value or log files. The ActiveBatch Extension for Microsoft Dynamics AX allows us to consolidate multiple command line and batch scripts and replace them with a single ActiveBatch Job Step—one that provides an interface to simply drag and drop it into the workflow. It's saving us time, improving productivity, and has made the execution of these processes more reliable."
